BURNING WITHIN

 

When did it begin

It started just as a warmth deep within

 

At first just a flame

Both gentle and tame

When I gave her my heart

With a vow never to part

 

No, no

 

Along came Jim

Who I thought was my best friend

So, I introduced him

No one committed a sin

 

‘Kavorka’ just crept in

Through the lure of the beast

Crept in from the East

Always destined to win

Now it’s coming again

Deep down gnawing

Consuming everything

Burning within, deep down within

 

Now on my own

It cuts to the bone

And now it’s been thrown

Should I have cast the first stone

Could I really blame old Jim

It was the ‘Karvorka’ in him

Still smouldering

It’s started again
