Starry Sky

The night is dark, the night is still,
No lights shine o’er the town,
Street lights on poles are sightless eyes
And only stars shine down.

The dome above is purely dressed,
In silver astral gown,
A strumming guitar haunts the night,
While still the stars shine down.

The splendour of the starry sky,
Almost ones senses drown -
The guitar fades away to quiet
And ever, stars shine down.

In pensive mood we pass the time,

While night still wears this crown,
We ponder what tomorrow holds,
While yet the stars shine down.

By candle light we trudge to bed,
Perchance with irksome frown,
While outside in the quiet of night,
Only stars shine down.
